Aviation on track with SAF

The EU Commission recently presented a report on how the market for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) is developing. Since 1 January 2025, the EU regulation has obliged fuel manufacturers to supply SAF to major EU airports, which will increasingly be blended with the paraffin fuelled there. Initially, the proportion of SAF in the total amount of aviation fuel must be 2 per cent – rising to 70 per cent by 2050. According to the Commission report, the industry is well on the way to achieving the 2025 target and is approaching the target of 6 per cent SAF by 2030.
